Objective: The Settlement Clerk is primarily responsible for providing administrative support to assigned litigation teams.

 Reports to: Litigation Attorney, Litigation Paralegal, Litigation Paralegal Supervisor

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

 Job Duties:

1.  Perform extensive data entry of account profile information into a database

2.  Follow-up on all checks and bills related to the settlement an payout of assigned cases

3.  Gather and organize data needed for settlement

4.  Review, verify, edit and input data in firms case management software related to the financial settlement of a case

5.  Input and maintain client-billing guidelines as applicable.

6.  Maintain a thorough knowledge of client contract terms, discount arrangements, attorney and client preferences while managing the  

    complete billing process

7. Receive all payment receipts and refunds related to assigned case

8.  Prepare agreements for attorney review

9.  Respond to litigation teams inquires regarding settlement status

 

Job Requirements:

  1. Must have a minimum of 2 years of previous related experience.
  2. Ability to complete simple calculations;
  3. Must be able to prioritize and accomplish duties in a high-pressure environment.
  4. Must be detail oriented and possess excellent organizational skills.
  5. Must possess a high degree of discretion dealing with confidential information. Must have unquestioned reputation for honesty and integrity.
  6. A strong knowledge of MS Office, Outlook, Excel, and Word and the ability to quickly learn Needles case management software.
  7. A positive attitude towards staff and clients is essential.
  8. Must be a flexible, team player.
  9. Must be highly motivated with a strong desire to develop professionally

Physical requirements:

Able to remain in the seated position for an extended period of time and to lift and carry up to 15 lbs. (office manuals, case notebooks, case files, case materials, standard boxes, report binders, etc.) as needed.

 

Working conditions:

Office environment, business office hours, work hours necessary to satisfactorily perform job functions. Some overtime may be required in order to timely accomplish work demands (overtime hours worked are paid at one and a half regular rate of pay) and to satisfy our firm's commitment to the professional development of personnel.
